Three area student artists will compete for a chance to have their work displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building at Washington, D.C. 

The following students were named regional finalists in the 18th District Art Competition hosted by U.S. Rep. Zack Space, D-Dover, Thursday at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts in New Philadelphia:

• Tori Metzger, a junior at Dover High, for her photo “Yesterday’s News.” Tori is the daughter of Steven and Christine Metzger of Dover.

• Kerri Predragovich, a senior at Indian Valley High at Gnadenhutten, for her mixed media piece, “Tea Flower.” She is the daughter of Terry and Kathy Predragovich of New Philadelphia.

• Eric Telle, a sophomore at Dover High, for his print “Old Passion.” He is the son of Doug and Ann Telle of Dover.

The finalists will compete against three additional finalists to be chosen at an art show in Chillicothe on Monday. The winning piece will hang in the tunnel used to travel to the U.S. Capitol for the next year with art from students across the country, while the other five will hang in Space’s D.C. and district offices.

Students receiving honorable mentions for their artwork include the following:

Ethan Schultz, a junior at Garaway High, for his painting “I Don’t Care.” Ethan is the son of Bill and Marie Schultz of Dover.

Joss Celuch, a senior at New Philadelphia High, for his painting “Landscape.” Joss is the son of Jim and Sheryll Celuch of New Philadelphia.

Ashley Crosby, a sophomore at Dover, for her print “Hello from Here to There.” Ashley is the daughter of Lori Cercone of Dover.
